2017 NNE-NKBA – Large Kitchen 1st Place Award

Problem:

• Drop ceiling that didn’t make sense
• Dark plywood cabinets
• Appliances on top of each other – no counterspace
• Painted brick
• No connection to dining room or view of the river

Solution:

• Converted existing laundry into pantry with sink – where morning coffee and toast made – hides crumbs
• Converted slider into window over kitchen sink
• Back to back cabinets into dining room
• Closed in a doorway to create a cozy corner with fireplace
• Client removed paint on brick to give it a weathered factory look
